It is a series of small full range speakers closely grouped as to form an array on a tall slender speaker. There are several advantages to line array speakers. One is that they play directly to the audience so that there is considerably less reverberation of the floor and ceiling. Less echo and better speech intelligibility. Secondly, line array speakers volume changes very little between the front of the room to the back of the room. The front isn't blasted so that the back row can hear .Finally, line array speakers usually reduce feed back just by the way in which they play.
