Sound Investments

This project was an upgrade to an existing system. A large floor standing TV sat in an opening, and commercially purchased speakers sat in wooden inwall boxes behind black cloth grills left and right. The problem was that placing the speakers in the boxes was the equivalent of sticking your head in a cabinet and talking. To make matters worse, the speakers were a ported design that allowed all the bass to pump out into the back of the box. The speakers were reasonably good, just in a bad location. The dated TV was removed, custom cabinets were created below for storage as well as to house the custom built center channel and subwoofer.

The boxes in the walls were accousticaly lined and custom built sealed speakers were engineered for the left and right openings. A super thick platform was built ( 3 inches thick) for the speakers to sit on and spikes were used as feet  for the speakers to further reduce any vibration to the cabinet. Audiophile quality sound with a built in look. For an extra theater feel,a 110" screen drops in front of the TV. Instant Movie Theater.
