Sound Investments

This Dedicated Theater is unique in that it is a completely  free standing building built in a basement with 14' ceilings. The rest of the basement is also completely finished but the walls and ceiling of the theater do not touch any other walls or ceilings in the basement therefore it is almost completely soundproof. As testament, the baby sleeps quietly in the room above while a movie is being watched.

This theater has a custom engineered 7.1 speaker system designed and built by Sound Investments which includes a 15" 1000 watt subwoofer. There is a false frame wall at the front of the theater that is approximately 2' from the real wall. This serves several purposes. Less expensive acoustical treatments can be used behind the wall since they cannot be seen, the speakers can be moved away from the wall for best sound quality, and they can be pointed in the desired direction without affecting anesthetics, for optimum sound quality. Wherever the screen isn't, there are giant speakers grills that use stretched cloth which is acoustically transparent. Also, as shown in the picture, there are acoustical wall panels that are different internally depending on their location in the theater and desired purpose. This theater can produce near recording studio sound quality due to the attention to detail in the acoustical treatments.

A faux finishes at the ceiling creates the allusion of clouds and lattice work . The curves at the ceiling help to create better sound quality and house natural bass traps.
